CABINET REFINISHING · APOPKA, LONGWOOD, LAKE MARY & WINTER GARDEN

A new kitchen for a fifth of the price.

Your boxes are solid. It is the color that dates the room. Refinishing keeps the cabinetry you already own and changes the one thing you actually dislike about it, in about a week.

REFINISH OR REPLACE

When refinishing is the right call, and when it is not.

We will tell you honestly which side of this line your kitchen falls on, even though one answer means we do not get the job.

REFINISH

The boxes are sound, the layout works

Solid wood or quality plywood boxes with no water damage
Doors and drawer fronts straight, hinges still holding
The layout is fine — you would keep it if it were a different color
The dark 2008 cherry or oak is what you are tired of
REPLACE INSTEAD

Paint will not fix what is wrong

Particleboard boxes swelling or delaminating under the sink
Doors sagging, frames racked, shelves sinking
You want a different footprint, taller uppers, or more storage
Thermofoil that is already peeling off the substrate

BEFORE & AFTER

Drag the handle. Cherry to grey, sprayed in place.

Dark cherry with a grey wall above it, closing the whole room in. Same boxes, same layout, same granite. Doors came off, got sprayed in the shop, went back on white. Nothing was replaced.

“We had a quote for new cabinets. This came in at a fraction of it and I honestly cannot tell it was not a remodel.”

HOW WE WORK

Cabinets are the least forgiving thing we paint.

You look at them from eighteen inches away, in raking window light, every single day. There is nowhere for a brush mark or a run to hide, which is why the prep and the spray matter more here than anywhere else in the house.

PHASE 01

Label, remove, contain

Before a single surface is sanded:

Every door and drawer front numbered so it returns to its own opening
Hardware bagged and labeled, hinges kept with their doors
Counters, backsplash, appliances and floors masked and papered
Plastic containment so overspray stays in the kitchen
Dark cherry cabinets before degreasing and sanding
PHASE 02

Degrease, sand, bonding primer

This is the phase that decides whether the finish is still on the cabinet in five years:

Degreased twice — years of cooking oil is invisible and paint will not stick to it
Scuff sanded by hand, every profile and every inside edge
Dents and old hardware holes filled where you want them gone
Bonding primer, tinted toward the finish color, sanded again after it cures
Refinished grey cabinets in a finished kitchen
PHASE 03

Sprayed, cured, rehung

Doors are sprayed flat and off the house, boxes and frames sprayed in place:

Cabinet-grade coating sprayed, not brushed — no stipple, no lap marks
Multiple thin coats with a light sand between them
Doors laid flat to cure so the finish levels out hard
Rehung on their own openings, hardware reinstalled, doors adjusted plumb

WHAT WE REFINISH

Not only the kitchen.

Anything built in and painted gets the same process. Most people start with the kitchen and add a bathroom once they see it.

Kitchen cabinetry

Uppers, lowers, island, pantry and crown. One color throughout, or a two-tone with a darker island and lighter perimeter.

Bathroom vanities

Small enough to be a one-day job and the cheapest way to see what the process looks like before committing the kitchen.

Built-ins & bookcases

Entertainment walls, office built-ins, window seats. Shelving sprayed off the wall where it comes out cleanly.

Laundry & mudroom

Lockers, cubbies and utility cabinetry, finished in something that will take a wet backpack and a dog leash.

Hardware changes

Going from knobs to pulls means new holes, and the old ones filled so they disappear under the finish. Done during prep, not after.

Interior doors & trim

Often worth doing in the same visit, since a newly white kitchen makes twenty-year-old almond doors suddenly obvious.

RELATED SERVICES

New cabinets make the walls look tired.

It happens on nearly every cabinet job. The kitchen goes bright and suddenly the ceiling and the adjoining room read dingy. We are already set up and masked, so adding them costs a fraction of coming back later.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What homeowners ask before a cabinet job.

How long am I without a kitchen?

Four to six days for a typical kitchen. The sink and appliances stay usable for most of it — what you lose is the doors and drawer fronts while they cure. We tell you up front which days will be disruptive so you can plan around them.

Will it chip?

Not if the prep was done right. Chipping is almost always a bonding failure from skipped degreasing or no scuff sand, not a bad coating. Cured cabinet finishes are hard, and they hold up to daily use the way factory cabinetry does.

How long before I can use them normally?

Doors go back on hard to the touch. Full cure takes a couple of weeks, so for the first while we ask you to close doors gently and avoid wiping them down with anything harsh. After that, treat them like any painted surface.

Can you match a specific color?

Yes. Bring us a photo, a paint chip, or the name of a color you saw somewhere and we will match it. We put samples on a door in your own kitchen light before committing, because cabinet white looks different in every room.

Will my house smell like paint?

Less than you expect. We spray with containment and ventilation, and modern cabinet coatings are far lower odor than the oil-based products this work used to require. Most families stay in the house through the job.

Can you refinish oak without the grain showing?

We can fill and knock the grain back considerably, but oak's open grain will still read slightly under paint. Some people like that texture. If you want a completely smooth slab look, that is a conversation about replacing the doors, and we will say so rather than overpromise.
